Too young to be afraid (a poem)

Too young to be afraid, we play at bones and graves

One at a time let’s make up a tale

Each

Of how we died

Some to tigers

some to bears

Some to poisoned pies

Or let’s pretend we’re in a magical wood where the trees try to eat us alive!

Let’s draw a hideous beast

Fangs and claws

Teeth and wings

“So very… Creative!” Mother says “How do you come up with these things?”

Grown ups must be scared-y cats

They don’t like bugs

Or vampire bats

They fear being late on Tuesday

Or running out of rinse-aid

They say that we’re not old enough

But we’re too young to be afraid.

Happy Halloween!

*giggling* so real XD. grown-ups really do seem like scaredy-cats when you’re that age, honestly I still think that at times…
