Poem: Napping in August

Drabble and dabble and dapple away

Till’ the threads of the world begin to fray

Babble of laughter the rabble at play

Bubble and warble, the sunbeam’s display

Losing the true ring we drift in a haze

The creeping of sleeping on in warm summer daze

Though dreaming it’s seeming to awake an outburst

Gleaming and winging familiar at first

Kaleidoscope twisted a dazzling picture

Departing beyond the frame of life’s fixture

Wonder and wander and whisper a mixture

Of voices and sizzle and shadows that whittle

Whittle the day away
