Hello Readers!
Last month, I had an absolutely fantastic time speaking and teaching at the Young Writer’s Workshop Retreat! Highlights include a two-hour long book signing line, a cosplay night, a bunch of delightful mentorship appointments, and a high-energy talk about pitching. This is such a wonderful group of young writers, and it’s an honor to be one of their instructors.

In-between more professional activities I found the time to go hiking, and complete an escape room with my family.

The escape room was time travel themed, and maybe one of my favorite escape rooms I’ve ever done! We escaped with only a few seconds to spare.
We may have escaped the room, but we did not escape the rain. By the time we were done it was absolutely pouring. The sort of rain that is coming down so hard it makes it difficult to see. And we had to walk several blocks back to our car in it.
I was soaked to the bone by the time I got back, but thankfully, that night was cosplay night, so I did have dry clothes to change into. I dressed up as Sorrel Willick from The Mage Pocket, and may have competed in a “bad dancing” competition with the other instructors.
One of the students decided to immortalize this moment on the internet.
As a foodie, I feel I must also showcase what I had for breakfast the morning we departed. A pistachio fig pastry and a London Fog.

Some of you might not know, but I actually work part time as an instructor at Young Writer’s Workshop year-round. They’re a great program, one I wish I had had when I was starting out as a teen. You can learn more about them here!
